We were strangers
But I felt like an angel.
I took my mud caked shoes off
Then I walked in the living room.
I’m quiet, nobody knows that I’m flying
It’s one little secret between God and I.
Someone told me to sit down
So I obeyed
although
I’d rather run around lighting up the dark
with my halo.
A stranger sat down next to me, far away
Who knew the night sky would soon draw us together
I wasn’t looking for anything except peace.
We were strangers
But you felt like an angel.
Warmth seemed to radiate off of you
Jealous, Jesus, I wanted that.
God’s fallen soldier was repairing her wings
It’s taken an almost eternity
I return my soul to God
Maybe this time whole.
